MedSystum, helps healthcare organizations recover money that payers owe them. This page explains how we use artificial intelligence responsibly, and the boundaries we place around it.
Note: This page is provided for the initial release of the marketing website and describes our principles and current practices. It does not constitute legal, medical, or coding advice.
The core of MedSystum is not a language model. The dollar findings we surface — contractual underpayments, recoverable denials, and claims that were never adjudicated — are computed by a rule-based engine that compares what payers paid against what they owed under your contracted or allowed rates. These calculations are auditable and reproducible: the same remittance data always produces the same result. Artificial intelligence is used only to explain findings and to draft appeal letters — never to determine the amount you are owed.
When an optional AI feature generates an explanation or an appeal draft, the information sent to the AI provider is limited to non-identifying claim data: the claim control number, payer, procedure code, dollar amounts, and adjustment (CARC/RARC) codes. We do not transmit patient names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, or member identifiers to AI providers. Our data model does not store direct patient identifiers, and our prompts instruct the model not to invent any.
AI-generated explanations and appeal letters are drafts intended for review by qualified staff before any use. MedSystum does not automatically submit appeals or any other communication to a payer. You remain responsible for reviewing, editing, and approving anything you send.
The Service surfaces only amounts that are supported by the remittance data and your contracted rates. It does not recommend codes or amounts intended to maximize payment beyond what the underlying data supports, and it distinguishes legitimate patient responsibility and contractual write-offs from recoverable shortfalls. Our goal is accurate recovery of what you are legitimately owed — not inflated billing.
Where third-party AI providers process data on our behalf, they do so under agreements — including Business Associate Agreements where applicable — and through endpoints configured so that your data is not used to train their models and is subject to zero or limited retention.
AI-generated content may contain errors or omissions and can reflect limitations of the underlying models. It is provided to assist your team, not to replace professional judgment, and it is not legal, medical, or certified-coding advice. Always verify AI output before relying on it.
We distinguish between findings produced by the deterministic engine and content generated with AI assistance, so your team always knows which is which.
We monitor the quality of AI-assisted output and welcome your feedback. If you believe an explanation or draft is inaccurate or inappropriate, contact us at hello@medsystum.com so we can investigate and improve.
